Tanzania (Zanzibar, Latham, Mafia & Pemba)

Targets: Wahoo, yellowfin tuna, big mahi/dorado, sailfish, king mackerel, dogtooth (Latham Island), jacks (jigging), GT (Mafia Island), marlin (Pemba area)
 
Best time: Late October to March

For Zanzibar launch:
Price: USD 250 half day, USD 400 full day, whole boat (small skiff good for max 2 anglers). USD 800 full day, whole boat (large, more comfortable boat good for up to 4 or 5 anglers). There is an option to fish Latham Island however a full day is needed and the large boat is highly recommended for this trip.


Note: we also have the option to fish from Dar Es Salam, including a liveaboard, and also have the option to fish Mafia Island (great for GT topwater) as well as Pemba Island (great for marlin). Please contact us if you are interested in these.

Trip Info & Insights

For Zanzibar launch: big yellowfin tuna very close to shore. A lot of wahoo, big mahi/dorado, king mackerel as well and quite a few sailfish. It’s a combination of trolling and casting, and if the conditions allow, jigging as well. Amazing food at Promised Land accommodation, they will cook your catch.
 
Gear: Provided by the charter but feel free to bring your own. Heavy popping set up for the yellowfin tuna, 10000 or 14000 reel, PE 4 to 8. Medium casting set up for mahi, etc. PE 3. Medium jigging set up, 8000 to 10000 reel, PE 2.5 to 4.
 
Recommended accommodation: Promised Land, Kizimkaze
 
How to get there: Fly into Zanzibar airport then take a taxi. A driver can be organised for you if needed.
